O F F F C A M INSIDE
OFFFCAM is a kind of photomaton, indeed a 'videomaton' : a cabin, a chair and a video camera. It is entirely automatic, people have nothing to do, no coin to insert, no mouse to click, no button, just sit and then after a few seconds, the camera records for 6 seconds. The camera is a DV cam directly connected through firewire to an old (1999) iMac 400 Mhz running OS9... Software was developed in Macromedia Director with the Smoothware TrackThemColors xtra for video input recording and video analysis (to detect when someone sits on the chair). The DirectFTP xtra was used for sending quicktime compressed movies (MP4 format) to the web server through a standard adsl connection. Server development is just a few PHP scripts on a Linux machine. In the cabin, you don't see your image... the eMac outside the cabin gives access to the public web pages where people can at last see themselves... see Nadine's pictures |
